One of the main purposes of Anger Management is to work with individuals to
better understand the difference between aggression and assertiveness. Often individuals in anger management believe it is not "okay" to experience anger. This misconception can often be
problematic because individuals will often begin going to great lengths to avoid feeling anger. In our approach of teaching individuals anger management skills we use evidenced based tools to
empower individuals to learn it is okay to be assertive and we work on tools and skills to reduce the amount of expressed aggression. Dr. McDermott is a level 2 certified Anger Management
counselor by the National Anger Management Association.
